The Essential Facts of Backgammon Tactics – Part One
August 29th, 2023 by Claudia

The objective of a Backgammon match is to move your chips around the game board and pull those pieces from the game board quicker than your challenger who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Winning a round in Backgammon needsrequires both strategy and good luck. Just how far you will be able to shift your chips is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and how you move your checkers are determined by your overall playing plans. Enthusiasts use a number of plans in the different parts of a game depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your chips into your inner board and get them off as fast as you can. This technique focuses on the speed of advancing your pieces with little or no time spent to hit or block your opponent’s chips. The best time to employ this strategy is when you believe you might be able to shift your own checkers faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have less pieces on the game board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The primary aim of the blocking tactic, by its title, is to block your opponent’s pieces, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your checkers quickly. Once you’ve created the blockade for your competitor’s movement with a few chips, you can move your other pieces quickly from the board. The player should also have an apparent plan when to extract and move the checkers that you employed for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when your competitor uses the same blocking strategy.
