The Essential Details of Backgammon Tactics – Part Two

As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The goal is to shift your pieces safely around the board to your inner board while at the same time your opposition shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or result a battered position if he ever tries to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, your opponent doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you move your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game tactic relies on alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is frequently employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
