The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part One
February 8th, 2019 by Claudia
[ English ]

The goal of a Backgammon game is to shift your chips around the Backgammon board and get them off the board faster than your competitor who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a round in Backgammon requires both strategy and good luck. How far you will be able to move your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and just how you move your checkers are determined by your overall playing tactics. Players use differing strategies in the different parts of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The goal of the Running Game plan is to entice all your chips into your inside board and pull them off as quickly as you could. This tactic concentrates on the pace of moving your checkers with absolutely no time spent to hit or stop your competitor’s checkers. The ideal scenario to use this technique is when you believe you might be able to shift your own pieces faster than the opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer chips on the game board; 2) all your checkers have past your opponent’s chips; or 3) the opponent does not use the hitting or blocking plan.

The Blocking Game Strategy

The primary goal of the blocking plan, by the name, is to stop your opponent’s chips, temporarily, not worrying about shifting your pieces quickly. As soon as you’ve created the blockade for your opponent’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other checkers swiftly off the board. The player will need to also have an apparent strategy when to back off and move the chips that you employed for blocking. The game becomes intriguing when your opponent utilizes the same blocking strategy.
