The Essential Details of Backgammon Strategies – Part 2
June 4th, 2022 by Claudia

As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and good luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent moves their chips toward their home board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips heading in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon tactics to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to move her pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or result a battered position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to block the activity of your competitor, your competitor does not even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to better your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game plan relies on alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is generally utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
