The goal of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the Backgammon board and get those pieces off the game board faster than your opponent who works harder to attempt the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a game of Backgammon requires both strategy and luck. How far you will be able to move your pieces is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and the way you shift your chips are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Players use different strategies in the differing parts of a game dependent on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Technique
The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your pieces into your inner board and bear them off as quickly as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of advancing your checkers with little or no efforts to hit or stop your opponent’s checkers. The ideal time to employ this tactic is when you believe you can move your own checkers faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the board; 2) all your checkers have past your competitor’s pieces; or 3) the opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Tactic
The primary aim of the blocking plan, by its name, is to block the opponent’s pieces, temporarily, not worrying about moving your checkers quickly. Once you’ve created the barrier for your competitor’s movement with a few pieces, you can move your other checkers quickly off the board. You should also have an apparent plan when to withdraw and move the chips that you utilized for blocking. The game gets interesting when your opponent utilizes the same blocking strategy.
