The Essential Facts of Backgammon Game Plans – Part Two
April 6th, 2021 by Claudia

As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and good luck. The aim is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any activity of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point eleven in your game board. After you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of your competitor, your opponent does not even get a chance to toss the dice, that means you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions hoping to boost your chances of winning, but the Back Game tactic uses alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game technique is often used when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice roll.
