As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and good luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at particular times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon techniques to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of your opponent, your competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your checkers and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions with hope to better your odds of winning, however the Back Game plan relies on seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is generally used when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
