As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The aim is to move your chips safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player chips moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to shift their pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any movement of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your board. After you have successfully built the prime to block the movement of the opponent, your opponent doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you move your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game technique relies on different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is frequently employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
